Tom Brady's Former Bodyguards Convicted for Attempted Murder and Sentenced Five Years Jail Time
The former bodyguards of National Football League's (NFL) superstar Tom Brady were sentenced five years jail time for the shooting incident that took place in Costa Rica in 2009, reported Britain's Sky News.
For those of you who weren't able to follow this story. Well, here it is.
In 2009, Brady and Gisele Bundchen celebrated their wedding at a seaside home in Costa Rica. Given the fact that Brady and Bundchen are high-profile celebrities, some photographers tried to steal some pictures from the said marriage ceremony. Brady's bodyguards approached the paparazzi and asked them to hand over the memory cards of the cameras. However, the photographers were hesitant. The bodyguards reportedly fired shots at the photographers.
Brady has stated in an interview with Sports Illustrated that he never heard shots fired. "That was totally bull shit," said Brady. "There were two guys on our property and we asked them to leave," he added. "Our security did not have guns, there were no shots fired," Brady said.
The victims filed a complaint against Brady's bodyguards and the court has just declared a ruling in favour of the alleged victims. It was reported that the alleged suspects never attended a single day of any of the court trials.
Alexander Rivas and Miguel Solis were found guilty of attempted murder. A certain Manuel Valverde was acquitted of the said crime. The suspects now face five years jail time, in addition to a fine equivalent to $10,000 each as payment for the damages done to the photographers.
Celebrities hire security or bodyguards to keep them safe. Shooting at photographers who were only trying to take some pictures is really something serious. A celebrity must be accustomed to seeing people take their pictures. That is the price of being famous. As much as celebrities want to have some privacy in their lives, it is just not that easy to achieve.
