Super spy Ethan Hunt needs a female operative to work with him and his sidekick Jeremy Renner in Mission: Impossible 4. And just who are the current crop of female actors vying for the role?

"Smallville's" Kristin Kruek, Paula Patton ("Precious"), and Lauren German ("Hostel: Part 2″) are reportedly being tested for the role.

German and Patton have already tested for the role, while Kristen Kreuk is scheduled to test soon.

Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt while Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner is tapped to co-star Cruise and set to continue the action film franchise should Hunt not become the focus anymore in the future.

Beside starring in it, Cruise will also produce Mission: Impossible 4 alongside JJ Abrams and Paula Wagner. Hollywood's Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are writing the script while Paramount Pictures plans to release it in US on December 16.
