Tom Hardy speaks out on playing the role of "Bane" for "Dark Knight Rises". Total Film got a chance to interview Tom Hardy about his role in Christopher Nolan's latest film. Is he happy playing the muscle bound, mask-wearing villain?

Tom Hardy says that Nolan called him up and offered him the role. "Hang on a minute. You're asking me to come round the world with you in a Batman movie, playing a villain, and the only downside to it is I have to wear a mask? Hmmm, let me think. I'll get back to you... No, I'm f***ing there, man! Anything you need." Hardy shares in the interview.

Hardy also wants to assure "fan boys" that what they can expect on the big screen will not disappoint the Batman film fanatics. In an MTV interview, Tom Hardy says that "Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan is a genius. "Chris has a plan up his sleeve that's not at all disappointing. And that is a definite choice that's watertight in every respect," stated the actor about director Christopher Nolan. "I think Bane's f***ing cool so I'm really excited to play him. It's not the guy in Joel Schumacher's film, but it shouldn't disappoint fan boys," says Hardy.

Tom Hardy is not bothered about wearing a mask either. "Any time you put something over your face, you're going to adopt a personality and a physicality that has nothing to do with acting. It allows a performance to be free," the English actor affirms. There is no denying that the upcoming release of "Dark Knight Rises" marks another highly anticipated film for Batman aficionados.
