Tom Holland talks about his 'Ultimate Spider-Man' hairstyle in recent selfie

Tom Holland stirred speculations recently that he will cut his hair for his Spider-Man look when he debuts Peter Parker in “Captain America: Civil War.” However, the actor clarified in a recent interview that he has yet to know details about his superhero character’s makeup and costume.

Holland talked briefly about Spider-Man with Collider while doing press rounds for “In the Heart of the Sea,” where he stars opposite “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth. The 19-year-old was asked to comment on reports that he had subtly teased his character’s hairstyle on Instagram.

He clarified that it was not his intention to reveal Peter Parker’s haircut. Holland told Collider that he only realised the similarities after people brought it up online.

“I did not know that I was doing that. Afterwards I was kind of like, ‘Yeah, that is kind of Spider-Man hair,” he said.

Holland explained that he was actually trying to imitate Johnny Depp’s hairstyle from the movie “Edward Scissorhands.” However, as soon as he posed for a selfie, people instantly assumed he was copying Peter Parker’s hairstyle from the “Ultimate Spider-Man” comic book and in turn revealed Spider-Man’s haircut in “Captain America: Civil War.”

Early in November, the young star shared a photo on his Instagram account which showed off the reported new hairstyle. He had captioned the shot with, “Hair cut or the Johnny Depp look?” His selfie was immediately flooded with comments from fans who said it looked like Peter Parker’s hairstyle from the “Ultimate Spider-Man” comic book.

Aside from his hairstyle, the actor also gave fans a glimpse of his developed muscles. Holland has been working out to achieve a superhero look.

Holland is expected to make his appearance as the web crawler in the 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War, “before he stars in his solo “Spider-Man” movie in 2017. Details have yet to be revealed regarding his role in the film or how much screen time he gets.

The recently released trailer for “Captain America: Civil War” does not show even a glimpse of Holland as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man. It’s reported that he will only have a cameo appearance in the movie.
