Tom Jones tells the truth about ‘The Voice UK'
Welsh singer Tom Jones has slammed the reality television singing competition “The Voice UK”. Jones, who was removed from the show's panel of judges in August, claims that the panelists were asked to turn their chairs for some contestants that they didn't really want to be part of their teams.
The singer criticised the format of the show and said that he was told, along with his fellow judges, to turn their chairs more often than they do. But he didn't want to and he kept on telling the showmakers that it has to be real. Jones also revealed that he refused to pick any weak contenders.
“But they were pressing on me, and that’s exactly what happened. I ended up with this red-haired girl that I didn’t like,” Jones told the Sunday Telegraph while citing an incident. The "It's Not Unusual" singer also revealed that the selected candidates in "The Voice UK" are not really trained by the celebrity coaches. Instead, there are singing coaches who work with the contestants and keep the celebrity coaches informed about their progress.
He also discussed his termination from the show, revealing that Mark Jones, his manager and son, had informed him about the axing. He responded by saying, “That’s life. I was here before The Voice and I will be here after it."
Talking about his numerous relationships with different women, including Mary Wilson of the Supremes, former Miss World Marjorie Wallace and TV host Charlotte Laws, throughout his career, the “Sex Bomb” singer said he never regrets his previous relationships because he has never hurt anybody.
Tom Jones was in the news recently for his remarks about his wife Linda Jones. He answered the critics by justifying himself and said that he was misunderstood. He clarified that it wasn't about Linda losing her spark. He meant that Linda felt that she has lost her spark. Tom revealed that Linda is suffering from emphysema and is reportedly unhappy with her looks.
