Tony Abbott Slammed By Pop Star Katy Perry On His Gay Marriage Views
Pop Star Katy Perry bravely told Coalition leader Tony Abbott that she would not give him her vote all due to his views on same-sex marriage.
Tony Abbott was one of the Australian celebrities who were given the shot to shoot Ms Perry a question during a radio show in the morning. He eagerly expressed how much one of the pop icon's hit songs way back in 2011 should be his anthem song. However, it seems that he is not familiar with the lyrics of Hot N Cold but insists that he knows it has a catchy tune to it.
It can be a bit sad for Mr Abbott to have chosen this Katy Perry song after having said his controversial 'sex appeal' remark this week about Fiona Scott, his own candidate for western Sydney.
When Mr Abbott began the interview with a question on when Ms Perry will visit Australia again, the pop singer instead insisted to shift the topic on gay marriage. It is not new to everyone's knowledge on how much she has been a huge supporter of marriage equality and has been seen in various rallies within the US.
When the politician set aside the issue, the Hot N Cold singer said that she wanted to meet his daughters, Bridget, 20 and Frances, 21.
After chatting with Mr Abbott, the singer slammed the politician by telling the radio host that she won't give him his vote. "I said 'hey, I like you as a human being I just don't believe in your policies so that's what a lot of people should be doing," Ms Perry said in her own words.
The host Jackie O reassured the singer that the Opposition leader surely stays as a fan still regardless of the words she slammed him with. To end things good between the interview, the two welcomed the idea of having lunch together.
However, Ms Perry still ended it with a joke saying, "If he lets me in to the country."
