Hollywood actor Tony Curtis was buried solemnly, and mirthfully, on Monday in Las Vegas with more than 400 people attending and more than one-fourth of them later getting a reception at a hotel-casino.

Curtis' wife said a celebration was what his husband of 12 years would have wanted in his death instead of a funeral, so a reception was held at the Luxor in the Las Vegas Strip for invited guests, who included California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and porn star Ron Jeremy and Vera Goulet, widow of Broadway singer Robert Goulet.

Scenes from Curtis' movies were shown on a screen during the funeral service at the Palm Mortuary & Cemetery with his animated role in "The Flinstones" and a sparring scene with Kirk Douglas in "Spartacus" eliciting laughter. Paintings and drawings of "The Defiant Ones" and "Some Like It Hot" star were displayed on easels. An American flag draped the coffin of the former Navy man.

Jamie Lee Curtis, his daughter with first wife Janet Leigh, joked in her eulogy that everyone got something from her father and hers was his "desperate need for attention."

Favorite possessions of the late actor, who died Wednesday at 85 due to cardio-pulmonary arrest, were buried together with him. These included a Stetson hat, an Armani scarf, driving gloves, an iPhone and a copy of his favorite novel, "Anthony Adverse."
