International travellers love Queensland in Australia and inject around $200 million of extra boost for the country's tourism industry. So what makes them spend much money in Queensland rather than going to other destination spots in Asia?

Queensland Tourism Gets $200 Million Boost

Jann Stuckey, Minister for Tourism said new figures released by the Tourism Research Australia's latest International Visitor Survey revealed that more than two million international visitors spend $4 billion on trips to Queensland.

"This result represents a four per cent increase in international visitors and a five per cent increase in international spending in the year to September 2013 compared with the previous year. The tourism industry suffered under years of neglect by Labour. This strong result today is a testament to the Newman Government's DestinationQ initiatives to restore this key pillar of the economy," Ms. Stuckey said, quoted by News Port.

What They Love in Queensland

It is the second-largest state in Australia and referred as the 'Sunshine State' which houses 10 of Australia's 30 largest cities.

There are many places in the state which tourists love to visit every year and spend much money to have the best holiday vacation ever.

  1. Queensland features many landscapes such as sunny tropical coastal areas, lush rainforests and dry inland areas.
  2. Queensland's main tourist destinations include Port Douglas, Daintree Rainforest, Gold Coast and Great Barrier Reef.
  3. Several tourist destination islands are also found in Queensland such as Fraser Island, Hamilton Island and Daydream Island.
  4. The Gold Coast of Queensland or Australia's Theme Park Capital houses five major amusement parks - Dreamworld, Movie World, Sea World, Wet 'n' Wild and WhiteWater World.
  5. Queensland also offers numerous wildlife parks including Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, David Fleay Wildlife Park and UnderWater World.
  6. TransLink Transit Authority in South East Queensland features a network fare system which allows a single ticket to be used.
  7. Airports are prominent in Queensland such as in Gold Coast, Cairns and Townsville.
  8. Major seaports are also serviced by Queensland including Port of Brisbane.
  9. Regional bus and long-distance rail services are provided by the State.
  10. Regional centres have local bus services.

Queensland recorded an overall nine per cent increase in UK travellers to 206,00 - more than double the national result - boosted by 14 per cent increase in UK holidaymakers, according to Jann Stuckey.
