Features and Operating System

The Google Nexus 5 is expected to run pure Android UI, but instead of having Android 4.2 or 4.3, Nexus 5 may have Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, rendering overall major changes in the interface. Like with any other Nexus devices, Google services will comprise most of the bloatware apps such Gmail, Google+, Hangouts (formerly Talk), YouTube and more.

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie has been rumoured to feature all-new technology to make Android easier and smoother. Optimisation is the biggest feature expected from Android 5.0 which will enable mid- or low-range devices to run the latest Android OS as it can support 512 MB of RAM.

The technical specifications of Nexus 5 are highly comparable with rumours of LG G2 such as:

- Linux 3.8 for 512 MB RAM optimisation

Another strongly suggested by rumours is the 16-megapixel rear camera shooter which would be made by Nikon. This meant that Nexus 5 will feature far better camera than Nexus 4 and could match imaging technology from Samsung, Sony, HTC and even the upcoming iPhone 5S.

Design and Maker

LG G2 and Google Nexus 5 were linked and rumours view that the two flagship phones are going to be alike. The LG G2 will feature no physical buttons on the side with power and volume keys located at the back area beside the camera lens. However, Google remained quite if LG is going to the maker or if any pattern in design is similar with the G2.

Nexus 5 Partner at Launching Event

Since Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is likely the operating system running Nexus 5, rumours expect that the new version, Nexus 10, will also be unveiled on the same launching event in October 2013.

According to PCAdvisor, ASUS is the alleged manufacturer of Nexus 10 which is also the maker of the Nexus 7 2. Google will have the final "yes" as to which maker is best to create the next Nexus 10 tablet based on submitted designs and it seemed like both ASUS and Samsung already sent their drafts.

Nexus 5 Release Date

October 2013 is the expected month for the Nexus 5 which also dates Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Back in May at the Google I/O 2013, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie was only hinted via a teaser slideshow demonstrating Android eating a piece of Key Lime Pie dessert. After a few months, Google publicly released the source code of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with new features such as OpenGL ES 3.0 and Bluetooth Smart.

Rumours suspected that Nexus 5 will be unveiled on the same pattern as with Nexus 4 - 1 year after it was released on October - but may be moved on November 2013. Other Nexuses such as Galaxy Nexus was announced in the month of November and Nexus S in the month of December.
