Peter Dinklage sets TV screens on fire with his performance as Tyrion Lannister in the "Game of Thrones." The role has already won him an Emmy for "Outstanding Supporting Actor" in 2011. Here are top five reasons why he is a favourite in 2013 as well.

Reason# 1: Small man casting a large shadow

Lord Varys described Tyrion best in the "Game of Thrones." The character played by Peter Dinklage has indeed made a large impression in the TV series. The character makes strong statements that simply cannot be ignored.

Other characters especially Tyrion's father try to put him down whenever possible. The confidence and strength that Peter Dinklage brings to the character has the fans spell bound in admiration.

Reason# 2: Sharp Intellect

Tyrion Lannister is known for his sharp intellect, which even his father had acknowledged when he made him "hand of the king." He can be seen maneuvering to outwit his rivals. It is very difficult for the other characters to stand their ground in an argument with him.

Peter Dinklage's cold and strong approach to outsmart and outthink the other characters has got his fans glued to the TV sets in anticipation of what he will say or do next.

Reason# 3: Sense of humour

Tyrion Lannister does not wallow in self pity. The character has a great sense of humour and even jokes about his size. His sarcasm, wit and brutal honesty makes it a joy for fans to watch.

The sense of humour shown by the character comes naturally to Peter Dinklage. There is a new book titled "The Wit & Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister" by George RR Martin, the author of the "Game of Thrones" book series.

Reason#4: Confidence

It is one thing to show confidence by acting but to deliver an inspiring speech in the midst of a losing battle takes a lot more. Tyrion Lannister has led his troops to battle on more than one occasion.

Peter Dinklage shows the confidence, frustration and resolve, even as his character does not get due recognition for his efforts in battles.

Reason# 5: Romantic and a gentleman

Tyrion Lannister's love for his mistress is growing stronger. He is at the same time very respectful and protective of his new wife Sansa Stark. Peter Dinklage shows his emotions well towards the two ladies.

The Primetime Emmys will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, on Sept 22.
