There are many contenders for the Outstanding Supporting Actress category in a drama series in the 2013 Emmy awards. Here are the top five reasons why “Game of Thrones” fans want to see Emilia Clarke win it.

Reason #1: Is that Daenerys Targaryen? - Growth of Emilia's character

Fans who have been following the series have seen Emilia's character grow. Viewers first saw Daenerys as a gift to Khal Drogo. Her brother had gifted her for an army. She now commands an army and is nothing short of a queen.

The transformation from a scared little girl to a seductive woman, and finally to an elegant queen, is not easy for an actor to manage. Fans have come to love and adore Emilia Clarke as Daenerys.

Reason# 2: The mother of dragons

Any TV character who commands a dragon also commands a lot of attention. Danerys commands three dragons. Audience have long seen mostly men handle the fire breathing mythical creatures. Emilia Clarke offers a different experience with her dragons.

As an actor it is very difficult to interact with an object or creature which is not there on the filming sets. Creatures like dragons are mostly added graphically after the shooting. Emilia Clarke is seen at ease with the role of Daenerys.

Reason# 3: Delicate balance between cruelty and mercy

With the growth of the Daenerys character there are additional responsibilities. She is now responsible for her people as well. As a leader she has had to conquer cities and liberate slaves.

Emilia Clarke has had to exhibit both cruelty as well mercy in her character. As an actor many usually have the choice of being kind hearted person or a cruel one. The Daenerys character offers a challenge to walk a tight rope. She can not appear to be too harsh or too soft.

Reason# 4: Leader of men

It is easy for a man with broad shoulders and a strong personality to command other men. But for the young and beautiful Emilia Clarke it can be a challenge to pull it off. Fans have seen Daenerys, as she slowly learnt the ropes to be assertive and in command.

Reason# 5: Talking in an Invented language

Actors have a difficult time memorising their lines written in plain English. Emilia Clarke has to speak in "High Valyrian" sometimes. This is a language almost extinct even in the imaginary world of Westeros.
