Samsung and Sony are racing out to release Android 4.3 updates soon to several of their respective devices such as Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra. Both have already got their hands on the newest Android version and consumers are expecting to get it before Android 5.0 release.

Samsung on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

Some of Samsung's Galaxy phones are receiving Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and skipping Android 4.2.2 update. Australian network carrier Telstra, already confirmed that Galaxy Note 2 will receive Android 4.3 update instead of Android 4.2.2 which the same with Galaxy S3 as Samsung scrapped the idea recently.

Android 4.2.2 firmware leaked caught by SamMobile included several unique features found in Galaxy S4 such as new lock screen effects, new system UI and exclusive applications. Although it can be flashed to the device, Samsung won't be using Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean anymore; so owners should wait till the company is finished with Android 4.3.

Sony Explains Android 4.3 Update

Sony recently confirmed Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to Xperia Z series, Xperia SP and other selected units running Android 4.1.2. The company aims to skip Android 4.2.2 if necessary and go straight to Android 4.3 firmware to save time and hasten update process.

Xperia Z series include Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z Ultra while other devices such Xperia SP are all qualified to get Android 4.3 real soon. Sony is currently in progress in developing the latest firmware upgrade which will be out as soon as the testing and approval proceeds smoothly.
