Here we feature some of the leading mums who have gone bad in the most notable films made in the industry.

In a lot of Hollywood movies, there have been lots of plots that involved the role mothers play in families and the community. You would love actresses like Sarah Jessica Parker in the recent soft comedy 'I Don't Know How She Does It' who plays the mum role that is overly sweet and extremely understanding.

But what if the mums suddenly turn sour and bad? It can be a bit odd and even too scary but admit it, it certainly makes the entire film plot a lot more interesting than the usual.

Halle Berry once played a drug addicted mother for 'Losing Isaiah.' She leaves her own baby in a waste bin and years after she fights to get back her daughter when the child was already rescued by a white woman. This has been a classic movie that is full of racial twists and drama.

Sigourney Weaver's role as corporate astronaut Ripley in 'Aliens' showed a lot of custody battle that is not too common to happen with a science fiction movie. The duel in the cargo scene only served as proof that words are not enough to protect your child from being eaten by a 12-fanged monster.

Piper Laurie played the mother of the popular role of 'Carrie' that made Sissy Spacek rise to stardom. It showed the memorable kitchen cutlery scene that highlights the religious fanaticism of the story of the movie getting in the way of the normal high school like of Carrie.

Faye Dunaway played the role of Joan Crawford in 'Mommie Dearest.' She plays a mum who is germophobic and abusive in a movie that was based on the memoir of Crawford's own daughter Christine. This movie became such a classic in cult genres and it will change the way you perceive wire hangers.

Diane Keaton as Kay in 'Godfather II' runs away with her kids without letting her husband, Don Michael played by Al Pacino, know about it. With Michael screaming out loud, 'You won't take my children' it proved his righteous point of being the father of their children. Maybe Kay has not been reviewing the rules in the "Mafia Wife Handbook" too well.
