From "Godzilla" to "Paranormal Activity," the year 2014 is full of promises and potentially great films that will make this year exciting and something to look forward to. This list of anticipated upcoming films features a mix of high-profile movies and sequels that will surely do well in the box office.

Here are the top ten films you need to watch for this year.

Noah

An upcoming biblical epic film, "Noah" stars A-list Hollywood frontrunners including "Gladiator" star Russel Crowe as Noah, Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah (Noah's father), Jennifer Connelly as Naameh (Noah's wife). Other stars who are in the movie includes Douglas Booth as Shem (Noah's son), Emma Watson as Ila (Noah's adopted daughter), Ariane Rinehart as Eve, Logan Lerman as Ham(Noah's son) and Leo McHugh Carroll as Japheth (Noah's son).

Based on the story of Noah's Ark, the movie is directed by Darren Aronofsky and is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 28, 2014. The role for Noah was previously offered to "Batman's" star Christian Bale and "12 Years a Slave" star Michael Fassbender, but both stars declined the offer as Bale accepted the offer to star as Moses in Scott Ridley's upcoming movie "Exodus."

Fury

Written and directed by David Ayer, "Fury" stars an ensemble cast including Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeaouf, Jon Bernthal, Michael Peña, Logan Lerman, Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood. Scheduled to be released on Nov. 14, 2014, the movie is set during the last months of World War II in April 1945.

The story is about the final push of the Allies in the European Theater, "World War Z" star Brad Pitt plays a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy as he commands a Sherman tank called "Fury." Wardaddy takes his five-man crew on a deadly mission into their enemies' lap where they were outnumbered and outgunned. The movie will feature the last surviving working Tiger tank (Tiger 131) and the first time that the war relic will be used on a film set.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The second installment of Marvel's 2011 "Captain America," "The Winter Soldier" features Marvel's beloved superhero Captain America played by Chris Evans. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the movie stars Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Hayley Atwell, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson.

Two years after the release of the first "Captain America," Chris Evans is back reprising his role as Captain America and this time he becomes entangled in mystery after a S.H.I.E.L.D. compatriot was killed. Now, Captain America is working hand in hand with Black Widow played by Johansson and must recruit the aid of the Falcon where they encounter a powerful adversary, the Winter Soldier.

Jupiter Ascending

An upcoming science fiction film, "Jupiter Ascending" is produced and directed by The Wachoskis. The movie is a story about a girl Jupiter, played by Mila Kunis, a lowly janitor who learns that she has a great genetic destiny. Like Keanu Reeves' "Matrix," "Jupiter Ascending" is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2014.

Kunis will star opposite "Magic Mike's" Channing Tatum as he plays Caine, an interplanetary warrior who is set to assassinate Jupiter. Other stars who are in the movie includes Sean Bean as Stinger, Eddie Redmayne as The King, Douglas Booth as Titus, Vanessa Kirby as Katherine and Tuppence Middleton as a girl "from another world."

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Based on Marvel's 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, the film is directed by Bryan Singer. The movie is Singer's third "X-Men" film out of the seven X-Men films in the series. The movie features the X-Men fighting a war of survival as the older X-Men are forced to go back the past to their future.

The movie's ensemble cast includes Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellan as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Halle Berry as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Jennifer Lawrence as raven Darkholme/Mystique, Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde, Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask and Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

An upcoming 3D computer-animated action fantasy film, "How To Train Your Dragon 2" is loosely based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell. The film is the sequel to the 2010 hit computer-animated movie of the same name and it stars the voices of Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Craig Ferguson, T.J. Miller, Kristen Wiig and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

The film will take place five years after Hiccup and Toothless successfully make peace to the long time feud between dragons and Vikings on the island of the Berk. Now the pair is inseparable and is embarking to another adventure. The movie is set to be released on June 13, 2014.

Big Eyes

Directed by Tim Burton, "Big Eyes" is written by Burton's "Ed Wood" writers, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. This movie stars Christopher Waltz as Walker Keane who was made famous in the 1950's and 1960's for paintings that featured bug-eyed children. But there is a big twist, the paintings are not his but the work of his shy wife, Margaret, played by Amy Adams.

A low budget film, "Big Eyes" is this year's must-see movie and might give Adams a gong for 2015. The movie will feature the heated divorce battle between the couple wherein Margaret accused Walker of stealing her work. Other stars in the movie include Krysten Ritter, Danny Huston, Terence Stamp and Jason Schwartzman.

Godzilla

Godzilla is a science fiction monster film that features the famous Japanese film monster of the same name but this time in a reboot "Godzilla" film franchise. This new movie retells the origin of Godzilla in the present times as a "terrifying force of nature." Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is scheduled to release on May 16, 2014 in 2D and 3D.

"Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston is one of the stars of the movie, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, Richard T. Jones, David Strathairn and CJ Adams. A truly intimidating force of nature, "Godzilla" is director Gareth Edwards' second picture.

Transcendence

An American science fiction thriller film, "Transcendence" will mark Wally Pfister's directorial debut and stars "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor Johnny Depp. Written by newcomer Jack Paglen, the film appeared on the 2012 Black List, Hollywood's list of anticipated unproduced screenplays.

Produced by Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas, "Transcendence" is set to be released in theater o April 18, 2014. Other stars included in the film are Morgan Freeman as Joseph Tagger, Paul Bethany as Max Waters, Rebecca Hall as Evelyn Caster, Kate Mara as Bree, Cillian Murphy as Anderson and Clifton Collins Jr. as Martin.

The Imitation Game

A historical drama film, "The Imitation Game" is about a British wartime cryptographer Alan Turing who famously cracked Nazi Germany Enigma code during World War II. Turing was criminally prosecuted for his homosexuality and his colorful life is portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Based on the biography "Alan Turing: The Enigma," the movie is scheduled to hit the theaters this year but with no definite date yet. Other stars who are in the film are Keira Knightly as Joan Clarke, Matthew Goode as Hugh Alexander, Rory Kinnear as Detective Nock and Mark Strong as Stewart Menzies.
