At the World Wide Developers Conference, Apple announced that iOS5 will have some 200 features but only ten of them were named at the event. The two-hour affair focused mainly on iCloud and OS X 10.7 “Lion”. However, there are other iOS5 updates to look forward to.

Firstly, the way it notifies users of upcoming messages has changed. The new message notification rotates into view on your screen in the form of discreet banner beneath the menu bar. The banner which displays the appropriate application icon and the message gently flips back out of view within seconds. If you need to respond to an important message, all you need to do is tap it so that you can switch to the respond application immediately.

The software is also showing off an update on its Lock Screen feature. This update makes Camera application still accessible despite the presence of a passcode requirement on the screen. Browsing on the taken photos or further exploring of the phone is constrained though.

What’s more, an iOS 5 device like iPhone5 can be activated without plugging it into anything. Every purchase you have made through iTunes could be easily accessed by just entering your Apple ID. Downloading them comes quickly too as your connection allows it.

The introduction of the messages application that replaces text/SMS/MMS messaging from one iOS device to another is another big feature that this software holds. It does not only enhance the messaging among Apple’s iOS 5 products and users. It also saves its users some cash by avoiding a major income source for carriers.

In conclusion such updates are powerful features that are not only breathtaking but also useful to all its clients.
