Tornadoes loom Boston, killed four in Springfield
Boston is at risk of being a target of twisters as extreme weather occurred in the Western Part of Massachusetts, announced the National Weather Service or NWS.
The two twisters which hot Springfield killed at least four people. Consequently, a tornado watch is in effect in the Boston area until 11 p.m. EDT Wednesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to come along.
A state of emergency was declared by Massachusetts' Governor Deval Patrick and called for 1,000 members of the National Guard to help clean up the muddle the twisters caused.
Patrick accounted one person was killed in Springfield, two in Westfield and one in Brimfield which appears about 20 miles east.
According to NWS, the region is under "threat of large hail and damaging wind" as well. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rain that could produce localized flooding.
The National Weather Service, further confirmed a touchdown in the western city of Westfield and just west in Springfield.
A police spokesperson told the West Roxbury Patch that the Boston police authorities are "trying to keep people out of open spaces" as an important measure to avoid the anticipated natural disaster.
The twisters in Massachusetts just succeeded extreme weather disturbances which transpired in various parts of the Mid West during the recent weeks. The catastrophe has killed hundreds of people in one of the lethal storm seasons.
