Total War: Warhammer releases new dlc Beastmen campaign gameplay and unit videos
Developer Creative Assembly has officially released a video teasing a new campaign map and gameplay for their Beastmen DLC coming out on July 28. The video offers a glimpse of the new campaign map named “An eye for an eye.” Only the Beastmen race are playable in the new DLC campaign, but available in the Grand Campaign as well.
Brand new campaign map
The “An eye for an eye” campaign boasts 52 regions for players to explore and conquer as the Beastmen. The faction Britannia is the main antagonist based on the victory conditions. Multiple factions were mentioned but it was not clarified if other races are present.
Two different starting points
The Beastmen race features two different starting points, depending on the starting legendary lord players pick. The Beastmen race can utilise two different starting points unlike the other races that only has one. Beastmen’s starting points was confirmed in the video to be Estalia and Blightwater.
New horde mechanics
Beastmen is a horde race but does not suffer penalties for having multiple armies being close to each other. This is new as horde races have had this penalty ever since. The lack of the penalty promotes army stacking which gives the Beastmen a unique horde gameplay style.
The race also features a moon cycle. The Beastmen celebrates each passing dark moon phase and the players choose which type of celebration is performed. Each different kind of celebration comes with its downsides and boons.
The new race features new campaign movement options. Beastmen is confirmed to be an ambush centric race as the standard movement stance is combined with the ambush stance. This enables the race to ambush enemy armies simply by moving in and attacking whereas other races can only ambush passing enemy armies. Unique only to Beastmen, hidden encampment renders the army hidden to enemies unless discovered while recruiting units.
Lastly, beast paths are similar to the underground mechanics available to the Dwarf and Greenskin races. These alternate paths are only available to the Beastmen race.
The new Total War: Warhammer DLC, Call of the Beastmen is available on Steam and comes with a 10 percent discount when pre-ordering.
