Toyota Australia decided on a recall after all, as the carmaker revealed on late Friday that it was going along with its parent company's announcement in Japan of up to 1.5 million vehicle recalls across the globe.

Toyota said that some 17,000 Toyota Klugers and 8000 Lexus would be recalled from Australian roads as the company issued advisory to car owners that their vehicles may require check-ups and possible repairs on installed brake-master cylinders.

The company said that the identified brake system glitch could lead to weaker braking power and may result to accidents.

As of this writing, Toyota Australia said that 77 cases of brake malfunctions have been reported though it quickly clarified that no accidents or injuries have been listed from across the nation.

In a statement released by the company, Toyota Australia said that they issuing the safety recall as a precautionary measure, stressing that owners can continue driving their vehicles "when the brake warning light is not illuminated," following some tests.

Otherwise, the carmaker reminded that "if the brake warning light illuminates, the brake master cylinder fluid level should be checked and filled," and owners were advised to bring in their vehicles to the nearest dealer station for inspection.

Toyota Australia said that specific models affected were Kluger series assembled from May 2003 to November 2005 Lexus series RX 330, IS 250 and GS 300, which were manufactured in 2005.

The company gave assurance that all registered owners of the identified vehicles set for the new round of recall would be notified by representatives of Toyota Australia.
