Toyota Australia is set to announce its second round of recall in a week's time following the car manufacturer's detection of a fault with a number of its Lexus and Land Cruiser model.

Company spokesman Mike Breen said that an engine problem on about 1200 Lexus Sedans could cause the car to stall and at present Toyota is "investigating a condition that involves the valve springs in some V8 engines and some V6 engines where there's a small possibility that abnormal engine noise or unstable idling may occur."

Also, Toyota issued recalls for some of its Land Cruiser models yesterday, which Mr Breen said were due to detected seatbelt glitches though he gave assurance that the problem only affected 18 units in Australia, which were assembled in May.

He said that the company has initiated communications with individual owners of the affected Land Cruisers and we have requested them "that they bring their vehicle in to have their seatbelt buckle changed over."

Mr Breen warned that the seatbelt buckle may malfunction at any time as he urged the vehicles' owners to visit their nearest dealer at the soonest possible time.

He added that Toyota is set to issue the formal recall announcement on Monday.
