Tragic End: Lee Thompson Young And Other Celebrities Who Committed Suicide [PHOTOS and VIDEOS]

It’s still a mystery why former Disney star Lee Thompson Young had ended his life at the tender age of 29. According to reports, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and had not left a suicide note when he was discovered lifeless on Monday.

The erstwhile “The Famous Jett Jackson” was found dead in his North Hollywood apartment on Monday by his landlord. Young was expected to show up to the production shoot of the TNT show “Rizzoli & Isles,” but when he did not, the staff asked his landlord to check up on him.

His publicist confirmed the suicide reports, saying, that he “tragically took his own life.”

It remains a mystery why he did so. According to TMZ, he did not leave a suicide note and that the people close to Young whom they’ve spoken with have no idea if the actor had apparent serious life issues.

Young was said to be a “rising star” in Hollywood with steady projects and a number of hit series under his belt. He must have had such a pressing problem or perhaps he was suffering acute depression for him to take his own life despite living an apparently good life.

But while his reason is still unknown, some celebrities who have taken their own life had clear reasons. Some people understood what the stars were going through, while others thought that they simply give up without fighting. Whatever these tragic stars were going through, it was eating them up, and only they could understand how difficult it was to bear.

Gia Allemand, 29
Died: Aug 14, 2013

A model and occasional actress, Allemand was best known for appearing on the U.S. reality show “The Bachelor,” wherein she competed for the affection of pilot Jake Pavelka in 2010. She was on the phone with her mum when she had ended her life. It was apparently heartache that pushed her to end her life. In her suicide note, as reported by TMZ, her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, alleged told her he didn’t love her anymore.

Kurt Cobain, 27
Died: April 5, 1994

He was one of the most famous grunge rockers of his generation. His band Nirvana had sold over 25 million albums in the U.S. alone. He also had a wife, fellow musician Courtney Love, and a young daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. He had it all: fame, fortune, career, and family. But apparently, all of it was too much for the troubled singer. His persistent drug addiction and clinical depression were too strong factors in his life as well.

Jonathan Brandis, 27
Died: Nov 12, 2003

He had such a promising career when he was young. He started as a model at just 4 years old before he began getting TV commercial acting offers. From then on, he was able to shift to TV and film acting. He also starred in the big budget films like “The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter,” “Stephen King’s It,” and “Sidekicks.” It was probably his role as Lucas Wolenczak in the futuristic sci-fi series “Sea Quest DSV” that was his most popular. But after the series was cancelled, he was not able to replicate the same success in his other roles again. His friends speculated that he was depressed about his deteriorating career, although the real cause has not been ascertained.

Paul Hester, 49
Died: Mar 26, 2008

The drummer for the bands Split Enz and Crowded House, this Australia musician enjoyed immense success during the ‘80s and ‘90s. His band, Crowded House (with Neil Finn and Nick Seymour), released big hits, with people even comparing them to the Beatles. But before he hanged himself from a tree near his Melbourne home in 2008, his friends and family were already aware of his extreme mood swings and his burgeoning depression.

Michael Hutchence, 37
Died: Nov 22, 1997

He was the founding member and lead singer of the ARIA Award-winning rock band INXS, and had been greatly successful with the band’s international hits such as “Disappear” and “Suicide Blonde.” Hours before he killed himself, he was awaiting a phone call from his wife Paula Yates in London, hoping that she would bring their daughter Tiger Lily to Australia to be with him. He hanged himself using a belt on the door of his hotel room. The coroner ruled his death as suicide while depressed and under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Charmaine Dragun, 29
Died: Nov 2, 2007

Although she looked bubbly on TV, Dragun, an Australian news presenter, suffered from bipolar disorder and depression. She had changed her medication for depression just weeks before her suicide. She had also previously told her mother that she had thought about committing suicide. She was supposed to present the news for Ten News Perth’s 5pm bulletin and Ten Late News on the night she committed suicide.

Tony Scott, 68
Died: Aug 19, 2012

The famous British filmmaker had a string of successful movies in his career and had a family when he died. According to witnesses, he did not hesitate before jumping off the bridge to end his life in 2012. He left a note in his car and another one at his office for his family, but what were written on those notes were never disclosed.
