Transfer News: Chelsea to target Edinson Cavani once Antonio Conte assumes manager role
Chelsea-bound Antonio Conte could target Edinson Cavani once the Italian boss assumes his position at Stamford Bridge.
Conte would likely include Cavani in his wish list once the 46-year-old Italian become Chelsea’s new manager, according to the Mail. The former Juventus manager knows the Uruguayan international from his stint at Serie A, where the Paris Saint-Germain striker became one of the most prolific scorer in the league.

Several reports claim that Cavani has been unsettled at Parc des Princes and is expected to leave Paris at the end of the season after being eclipsed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. With Costa heading to the Premier League side, there is a chance the 29-year-old Cavani also transfers to the EPL this summer.
Chelsea is set to name Conte as their new boss on Jul. 14, reports Sportmediaset via Tutto Mercato Web. Matt Law of the Telegraph reported that Conte will have a meeting with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich later this week to finalise the potential move.
“Italy coach Conte is poised to shake hands on a three-year deal to take over as Chelsea manager next season when he meets Abramovich in person,” Law wrote.
Conte, who was one of the most decorated players in the history of Juventus, has won the Serie A title three times and the Italian Super Cup twice with the Zebre.
Meanwhile, the Blues have entered the race to acquire AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura at the end of the season, according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato. Conte is reportedly keen to sign the 26-year-old Bonaventura, who has scored 14 goals in 63 appearances with the Italian club.
However, the report also added that the Italian international’s agent Milos Raiola has been working with Milan since February to renew Bonaventura’s contract, potentially increasing from Є1 million (AU$1.4 million) to Є2.5 million (AU$3.6 million).
