Transfield unveils more than $1 billion worth of secured work projects
Contracting firm Transfield Services Ltd (ASX: TSE) said on Monday that it has chalked up some $1.1 billion worth of work in Australia and New Zealand so far in the first quarter of the current financial year, including substantial deals struck with BHP Billiton Ltd, Caltex Australia Ltd and initial site rollout constructions for the National Broadband Network.
Up to $670 million worth of contracts with existing clients in Australia and New Zealand have been secured so far, according to Transfield, and among them were significant work project deals with the Australia Track Corporation, Brisbane City Council, Sydney Water and Chorus.
Transfield chief executive Peter Goode said that all work projects awarded so far to the company "in both the Infrastructure and Property and Facilities Management businesses reflect the strong relationships Transfield Services has established with existing clients through the delivery of quality services."
The company highlighted its deals with BHP Billiton and Caltex Australia as the underpinning of its strengthening reputation in Australia's hydrocarbon maintenance service industry.
It added that with contracts also won on the NBN rollout, Transfield is further buttressing its shoring up position with both the private sector and government-sponsored business opportunities.
The company said that it has achieve expansion works in North America, where a $US130 million or $A134.23 million contract with Walmart was secured for the delivery of exterior maintenance services for the giant retailer's chain of 4000 stores.
Another contract in Canada saw Transfield forging a preferred tenderer status with Nexen Inc while it has secured a fresh deal of $C170 million or $A171.76 million with the country's Ontario Ministry of Corporation.
Mr Goode stressed that trusts bestowed by existing clients on Transfield pointed to the company's efficient and productive business reputation, adding that "this healthy flow of new and renewed business clearly demonstrates that we are progressing on our strategic objective to drive profitability by leveraging our existing client base and geographical footprint."
