Travel advisory: Weather may cause delays and diversions on east coast
A strong weather front moving across eastern Australia may cause disruptions to flights today, according to Airservices Australia.
Heavy rain, strong and gusty winds, and the chance of isolated storms are predicted for Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast airports.
Melbourne and Canberra airports are expected to be most impacted by the rain today, with Sydney also seeing rain.
Gusty northerly winds are predicted for Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with rain developing during the afternoon.
Flights arriving and departing from other airports may also experience some disruption due to flow-on effects within the national air traffic network.
Passengers are advised to contact their airline for up-to-date flight information.
Airservices National Operations Centre is monitoring the situation and will work with air traffic controllers nationally to manage any disruptions. Updates will be provided throughout the day.
