Heath Ledger to be honored in Australia's 2012 exhibition at the Western Australian Museum
AUSTRALIA - Perth-born actor, Heath Ledger and his career will be the focus of an exhibition now being conceptualized by the Western Australian government together with the late actor’s family.
The centerpiece of the exhibition will be the posthumous Academy Award won by the star of The Dark Night, following his highly acclaimed portrayal of psychopathic villain, The Joker.
Also expected to be displayed in the exhibit is the diary which the actor had kept while filming The Dark Night. The diary according to The Sydney Morning Herald, hopes to provide insight on the actor’s mindset while working on his Oscar winning character, The Joker.
Along with the diary are The Joker’s costume and a painting of Ledger by Melbourne artist Vincent Fantauzzo, as among the major attractions of the exhibition.
Describing the highlights of the exhibit, Cultural and Arts Minister John Day expressed optimism on the expected output.
"As well as the stories from his youth and early career, the exhibition will document his aspirations as a director, his talented work creating music videos and his formidable abilities as a chess player and photographer," Day said, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
The WA official is also confident of the success of the event with the cooperation from the late actor’s family, represented by his father, Kim Ledger.
Mr. Ledger is now actively coordinating with the organizers to provide extensive details of the actors life, highlighting the memories of his childhood and the struggles as a young actor in Australia before landing major roles in Hollywood.
According to The Herald Sun, Mr. Ledger said his family were "extremely pleased" of the initiative "preserving and providing historical personal information, objects of interest and movie paraphernalia for a display which will attract both local interest and visitors to WA, from interstate and overseas".
The exhibition will be hosted by Western Australian Museum and is scheduled to be open for the public in 2012.
In addition to The Dark Night, other films starred by Ledger include The Brokeback Mountain, Two Hands, A Knight’s Tale, among others.
