Troye Sivan cancels show in Perth and Sydney because of health issues
Pop sensation and YouTube star Troye Sivan cancels his show in Sydney and in his hometown Perth because of on-going health issues.
The 20-year old star is set to play at the Astor Theatre in Mt. Lawney this coming Sunday. The announcement came hours before the cancellation of his concert at the Metro Theatre in Sydney tonight.
In a press statement, promoter Frontier Touring has said that Sivan has been experiencing flu-like symptoms. Specialists told Sivan that he his risk permanent damage to his singing voice if he will continue with the shows.
Sivan apologized to his fans for the cancellations. In his tumblr post, he said that he was an acute laryngitis that has gotten much worse and has now developed sinusitis which leaves him too sick to sing. He said that last week took a toll on him as he went flying from Washington DC, Toronto, New York, London and then to Sydney.
The frustration sets in as he said, “scI’m the (expletive) sickest I’ve probably ever been in my life. It sucks. I’m on antibiotics, medication to reduce mucus, a full dose of steroids, have drunk loads of water and been gargling everything under the sun - all to no avail.”
At the end of the message, he thanked his fans for their support and understanding and vows to return better than ever soon.
As for those who already purchased the ticket, credit card users will automatically be refunded within seven days. Those who bought their tickets in cash or EFTPOS will be contacted for more information on how to claim for refund.
Troye Sivan is a South African born Australian actor, singer-songwriter and YouTube video blogger with over 203 million views with over 3.6 million subscribers. He has appeared in the 2009 film, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” as the young James Howlett.
