Truck Collides Into Kalgoorlie Water Pipeline, Cost of Damages Reach $100,000, Water Supply Stable
A truck has collided into the Perth-Kalgoorlie pipeline early Friday morning, rendering damages of at least $100,000 to the water line. But the management of the water line assured residents there won't be any disruption to the supply of water.
"It'll take probably 24 hours overall but we should have it operating by late tonight," Hugh Lavery, Water Corporation's Goldfields and Agricultural Regional Manager, said.
"During that period there won't be any interruptions to customers or supply along the way because we've got the duplicate side of it still operating."
The crash happened on the Great Eastern Highway, about 10km east of Meckering, at 1.45am. The 54-year-old driver and lone occupant of the truck incurred damages but not life-threatening.
He was airlifted Royal Perth Hospital. Police have yet to determine the cause of the wayward collision.
