‘True Blood’ Final Season Spoilers; Stephen Moyer Dons Director’s Hat; Filming in January
HBO's "True Blood" will return sometime in June 2014 for its final season, with ten episodes. Brian Buckner, executive producer of "True Blood," has promised to bring "Sookie's story to a close with heart, imagination and, of course, fun."
The first step in that direction is Stephen Moyer donning the director's hat for the premiere episode. Stephen Moyer plays the principal character of Bill Compton in "True Blood."
According to TV Line, this will be the third time that Moyer will step behind the camera to direct an episode. The actor had earlier directed in Season 5 and Season 6 of "True Blood."
In the final episode of "True Blood" Season 6, Eric Northman, portrayed by Alexander Skarsgard, was sitting atop a snow-clad mountain in Sweden, reading a book completely in nude. He was soon consumed alive by the fire in the sunlight.
There are speculations that the scene showed the end of Eric. According to Buckner, Skarsgard will return as a regular in the final season of "True Blood." In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bucker did not confirm whether Eric is alive or dead. He just revealed that they are using Skarsgard.
"... We're not saying how we're going to use him, we're simply saying that we are using him. I will say that I do long for the days when television audiences could stand to wait and enjoy the tease. But I understand we're living in a different time. I don't want to watch a show without him either," Buckner said.
"With Nora gone, and having sought vengeance for her death, he (Eric) found that the pain was still there and he doesn't want to feel it again. So he retreated and returned home. That's as much as the audience is meant to know. For now ..."
He also said that Eric thing is the "consequence of Warlow's death." Buckner said to TV Line that it would be a "cheat" if they show that Eric is alive in the premiere episode of the final season.
Buckner said that they are returning to the original theme of 'Let's see if vampires and humans can get along'. "Everyone's going to come under the umbrella of that main story." He said that the audience can expect "a number of complicated three-way, four-way relationships."
The final season of "True Blood" is scheduled to begin filming sometime in early January, 2014. The premiere episode of the season 7 will premiere sometime in June, 2014. "True Blood" is based on "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" series of novels written by Charlaine Harris.
