HBO's latest show "True Detective" premiered with its Season 1 Episode 1 (Pilot) on Jan. 12 2014. The crime drama starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson received rave reviews by the experts and the viewers tagging it as one of must watch the latest shows on television. According to the review by Forbes, "True Detective" is "really, really good." True Detective Season 1 Episode 1 (Pilot) The Long Bright Dark Recap (Spoilers)

The show "True Detective" is led by two detectives of Louisiana, Rust Cohle played by Mathew McConaughey and Marty Hart played by Woody Harrelson. They worked on cases as State Police Officers in the year 1995 to 2002.

In events of True Detective Season 1 Episode 1 ( Pilot) The Long Bright Dark, the two detectives are retelling their stories from the past to the cops in the year 2012. Rust and Marty worked together in 1995 while investigating the murder of a prostitute Dora Lange in a sugarcane field which appeared to be a ritualistic murder as she was found dead with deer antlers on her head and had a symbol painted on her back. Also, a lattice was discovered with the body.

In the flashback of events in 1995, the two detectives are working together on Dora Lange's case, when they discover two more such murders of young girls. The investigation brings to the light the murder of Marie Fontenot who was murdered 5 years before the actual investigation started by Rust and Marty. Following this discovery, they find out that a little girl was also found dead in woods in similar fashion.

While currently working on the cases, Hart invites Cohle for a family dinner. On the day of dinner, it is Cohle's deceased daughter's birthday and he arrives drunk. The dinner becomes an awkward affair.

Meanwhile, Hart's wife Maggie is facing problems in keeping the family together while he is engrossed in the ritualistic murder mystery of Dora Lange. Apparently, their marriage is falling apart.

Towards the end of the True Detective Season 1 Episode 1 (Pilot) The Long Bright Dark, viewers are taken to the present day (2012). In the present day scenario, the two detectives come together due to the murder of a girl who appears to be conducted in same fashion as Dora Lange in 1995. Two of them parted ways in 2002 and have not been in touch since 2002 falling-out. The cops Papania and Gilbough seek information from Rust and Marty about the 1995 murder case believing that how could this happen again if the two detectives had caught the murderer in 1995.

True Detective Season 1 Episode 1 (Pilot) The Long Bright Dark opened the storyline jumping between past and present. But according to the spoilers, the storyline of the show that will follow the anthology format has more than a murder mystery of Dora Lange as the focal point. The following episodes will bring forth Marty's troubled marriage and tension between him and Rust. Also, more cases of linked ritualistic murders will emerge. True Detective Season 1 will return with Episode 2 titled "Seeing Things" on Jan. 19, 2014.
