'True Detective' Season 2 Casting Spoilers: Will Matthew McConaughey Return for 'True Detective' Season 2?

Matthew McConaughey (Rust Cohle) became a household name owing to the success of the show that traced the story of a ritualistic murder mystery that occurred 17 years ago and was investigated by Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson's Martin Hart. Show's plotline also included personal lives of these two detectives determined to debunk the murder mystery. Playing an iconic role of Rust Cohle, Matthew McConaughey has amassed devoted following from TV show fans as well. And fans now want to see more of him. But will he be back for "True Detective" Season 2?

He "won't be back for season two," Matthew McConaughey revealed at the 86th Academy Awards as quoted by Mercury News. He believes "True Detective" Season 1 was "finite."

Show's Creator Nic Pizzolatto Talks Series 2

It is clear that fans want more of "True Detective." Recently it was revealed that even though the show has not been officially renewed by production, after acquiring an average of 10.9 million viewers per week, the show is most likely to get renewed for Season 2. According to the reports swirling around, the show will follow anthology approach and will return with a new cast and story.

In an email interview with Buzzfeed, show's creator Nic Pizzolatto revealed some major spoilers of "True Detective" Season 2. For the second season there will be some changes in the format and will feature more than one director's work throughout the story.

He also hints change in cast, story and location but want "aesthetic to remain determinedly naturalistic, with room for silences and vastness, and an emphasis on landscape and culture," revealed Nic Pizzolatto about "True Detective" Season 2 to Buzzfeed in an email interview.

"And I hope a story that presents new characters in a new place with authenticity and resonance and an authorial voice consistent with this season. Dominant colors will change. South Louisiana was green and burnished gold," added Pizzolatto about "True Detective Season 2."

'True Detective' Season 2 Airdate Speculation

Even before the season 1 has come to an end, fans are wondering when the show will return for its highly anticipated Season 2. Even though no official announcement of its renewal has been made, media outlets are speculating its returning airdate. Keeping in mind its distinguished kind of format and intense plot, it is being speculated that "True Detective" Season 2 may return exactly after a year, Jan. 2015.
