Truong Thi May to Represent Vietnam at Miss Universe 2013
Truong Thi May is set to represent Vietnam at Miss Universe 2013 scheduled Nov. 9, 2013 in Moscow, Russia. May is a successful model in Vietnam and was chosen by Unicorp, the official body of Miss Universe Organisation in Vietnam.
The 25-year-old dusky beauty was the first runner-up of Miss Vietnam Ethnicity 2007. May was selected twice in Miss Earth pageant, but she missed both the times due to unforeseen circumstances. In 2009, she met with an accident days before the contest, while in 2011 she declined the invitation from Thanh Nien Corp. as she was busy with her acting commitments and grandmother's illness.
For months, speculations are on about May getting a chance to represent Vietnam in the upcoming Miss Universe 2013 pageant. In fact, several days ago, Vu Hoang My Miss Universe Vietnam 2012 posted on her Facebook account that she "is flying to Nha Trang for the Miss Universe Vietnam 2013 Charity Golf Tournament and visit the children at the Khanh Hoa Child Support Center with former Mrs. Universe Vietnam and this year's Miss Universe Vietnam."
In the meantime, May shared that she was at the airport heading for Nha Trang. My later said about this year's Miss Universe Vietnam as a lady with dark complexion and pleasing personality, according to Beauty Pageant News.
May was born in Phnom Penh in Cambodia in 1988. Her parents are Khmer-Vietnamese. She grew up in the Mekong Delta province and this is the region where most of Khmer population of Vietnam resides. She practices austere Buddhism as a religion and is known to follow a strict vegetarian diet from the age of 13.
May is an early riser and starts her day at 4 a.m. in the morning. She performs 108 kowtows and reads her prayers diligently, according to Thanh Nien News.
