Popular blogsite, Tumblr, closed for three hours on Good Friday, March 29, due to networking problems. Tumblr reached a landmark when it reached 100 million blogs hosted and 44.6 billion posts on March 26, 2013, from only 50 million blogs hosted in April 2012.

The site, however, is back online. Tumblr said the problem was due to an upstream network provider issue. It is not the first outage for Tumblr which had Dashboard issued and network problems also in October and a widespread slowdown in December.

Tumblr was established in February 2007 and has its headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is a microblogging platform and a social networking Web site founded by David Karp and Marco Armeni. Within two weeks of its launch, it had attracted 75,000 users.

The Tumblr app is available in iPhone,

Blackberry

and Android.

It was also the subject of an MTV with more than 1 million views.
