Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has been declared by Forbes magazine as the 49th most powerful woman in the world, according to their list of 100 most powerful women released this week.

MTV explains Stephenie Meyer's high ranking as owing to having convinced an entire generations of entire girl that someone like Robert Pattinson's vampire Edward Cullen is the best possible boyfriend there is.

"Meyer has single-handedly convinced an entire generation of teenage girls that the best possible boyfriend is one who sneaks into your bedroom at night to watch you sleep and can only barely restrain himself from murdering you."

Stephenie Meyer was the biggest selling author of both 2008 and 2009. Her bookssold over 29 million copies in 2008 , with Twilight being declared as the best-selling book of the year. Meyer sold 26.5 million Twilight books in 2009 which made her the first author to achieve this feat.

In 2008, Stephenie Meyer ranked 49th on Time magazine's list of the "100 Most Influential People." She was also included in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list of the world's most powerful celebrities in 2009, ranked at #26. Reportedly, her annual earnings exceeded $50 million.
