Director Bill Condon thinks that "Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson deserves some respect and urges fans to give them some credit.

After Kristen Stewart has been bombarded with a lot of negativity since her affair with Rupert Sanders broke out, her "Twilight" director asks fans to show the stars some respect. He said that the two, who play the lead roles in the vampire movie, are just actors and have the right to some privacy and respect.

"The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it's not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that," he said on Entertainment Weekly. "Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it's time that some of that respect be returned to them."

His plead came after weeks of abuse from fans after Kristen's cheating scandal with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director was revealed to the public. After pictures Kristen and Rupert were published, the young actress released a public apology for her "momentary indiscretion" adding that he loved Rob very much.

Although Kristen and Rob have moved out of the home they share together in Los Angeles, the two are reportedly back on speaking terms. However, sources claim that Rob is not ready to forgive Kristen for what she did.

"He's been drunk dialing Kristen. Rob had been avoiding her calls, but now they're talking, well, they're barely talking. There's a lot of dead silence on the phone because there's not a lot to talk about," a source told In Touch magazine.

It is still unclear how the controversy will affect the promotional tour for "Breaking Dawn Part Two" which will be released in November.
