'Twilight' Star Dakota Fanning Talks About Turning 21, Shares Her Birthday Plans
"Twilight" star Dakota Fanning is turning 21 in February but the actress is not that excited about it. Speaking about her birthday plans, the young actress said that she'll probably just stay at home with some friends and call it a day.
Childstar Dakota Fanning, who has been impressing people with her acting prowess since she starred in "I am Sam" opposite Sean Penn, has grown up in the public eye. She has 55 acting credits to her name. However, the actress is not the work hard, party harder kind. Dakota prefers knitting to partying. The other stars or even ordinary girls of her age would prefer the latter. "Pretty much every director I've ever worked for I've knit a scarf for," the "Twilight" star said to Page Six.
She also said that people around her are more obsessed with her birthday than herself. She added that she has no idea what to do on her birthday. "It's been such a talked-about thing for so long, like, what are you gonna do for your birthday, that I think by the time it rolls around I'm just going to stay home with five friends and call it a day," she said.
She has always been an unconventional child star. In an interview with Radio Times last month, she was asked how she avoided the path of most child stars: starting strong, becoming rebellious and facing the prospect of "diminished output." She said that she did not grow up thinking that she is a child star because somehow, she perceives it as a negative term that can diminish young actors. For her, she said that an actor can be of any age and that even though she started young, she never thought that there could be another option for her. She loves making movies and she hates that people have this thinking that young actors are not supposed to become successful and are likely to fail. She said to Radio Times that she's currently at an age when others are just starting their professional lives and she's already done so much, so she's thankful.
