Red Riding Hood, the movie adaptation of the beloved children story, has released a new trailer. The movie is set to be released by March 2011.

The movie stars Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia, Dear John, Jennifer's Body) playing the titular role. Red Riding Hood revolves around the romance between a young girl named Valerie, who is played by Seyfried and an orphaned woodcutter, set in a medieval village haunted by a werewolf.

The former Mean Girls star is said to be well-cast for Red Riding Hood. The movie's director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) told Entertainment Weekly that she has never seen Seyfried in a role that resembles anything of her previous performance in films.

"She's supersexy, wild. And those big eyes of hers are totally out of a fairy tale," said Harwicke.

It is no coincidence that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, who was praised for her work in the Twilight Saga has been selected to helm the film. The movie Red Riding Hood is intended to be the "spiritual" successor to the Twilight movies in an effort of Hollywood studios to continue the trend of movies aimed at "tween" demographic.
