‘Twin Peaks’ season 3: Madchen Amick talks about ageing of characters
“Twin Peaks” season 3 will soon make a comeback on TV after almost 26 years. The story will reportedly continue from where it ended in the last season, which aired in 1991.
While many fans are excited about the show’s return to the small screen and about solving the cliffhanger, there are some fans who are perplexed if the characters will age in the show. Actress Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson) has finally addressed the issue in a blog post on her official website.
The actress, who is known for her role in “Riverdale,” said that one of the reasons why she decided to write the blog was the “Twin Peaks” revival. “Since this was announced, I have been bombarded with the comparison of my now, 46-year-old self, to my very young and innocent 16-year-old self.
“Now, what concerned me most, was the very surface assumption that since I had a more ‘youthful look’, I must’ve had ‘work’ done,” she wrote on her website. Amick, who is the mother of two children Sylvester and Mina, clarified that she didn’t go under the knife, and she rather celebrates the beauty of ageing.
Madchen Amick played the role of waitress Shelly in the show, a high school dropout who works at the Double R Diner. She marries Leo Johnson (Eric Da Re), a sadistic wife beater believed to have connections with the deal of Laura Palmer. Amick was also a part of the film “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me,” which was released in 1992. She is all set to appear “Twin Peaks” season 3.
The show is based around the story of Laura Palmer’s death, which remained unsolved in the previous two seasons. Lynch has cleared the air regarding the plot of the season 3 saying that it will be based around Laura Palmer’s death as well as the supernatural mysteries observed in her last days.
Original cast members including Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horn), David Duchovny (Denise Bryson), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), Phoebe Augustine (Ronette Pulaski), Miguel Ferrer (Albert Rosenfield) and Ray Wise (Leland Palmer) are returning for “Twin Peaks” season 3. Also, new additions have been made to the cast. Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Laura Dern, Michael Cera, Monica Bellucci as well as “The Walking Dead” actor Josh McDermitt (Eugene Porter) have also joined the 2017 season.
“Twin Peaks” season 3 will be launched in the US on May 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Showtime. In Australia, the show will be streamed on Stan at 1:00 p.m. on May 22. The 2017 season comprises of 18 one-hour-long episodes.
