‘Twin Peaks’ season 3: Mystery of Laura Palmer’s death will be solved apparently
“Twin Peaks” season 3 teaser has been recently released and it is raising the excitement of audiences keen on the return of Kyle MacLachlan as FBI special agent Dale Cooper after almost 26 years. Since the show is making a comeback, it is expected that the mystery surrounding Laura Palmer’s (Sheryl Lee) death observed in season 2 will be solved finally.
There are a lot of things that hint that Laura Palmer’s death will be the basis of the plot for the third season. The official Twitter handle of the show says that the story will continue from where it was left. “Twenty-five years later, the story continues,” the Twitter post said.
Creator David Lynch also said that the story of Laura Palmer’s last seven days is very important. He indirectly hinted that fans shall watch the movie, “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” before watching “Twin Peaks” season 3. “I could say it's the story of Laura Palmer's last seven days. Very much important for this,” Lynch said at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. Pehaps, there lies a hint in events that took place in the last seven days of Laura Palmer’s life, which will connect to the story of season 3 and reveal who the killer was.
Furthermore, while talking about what kept him at bay to revive the show for another season, Lynch said that “Who killed Laura Palmer was a question we did not really want to answer.” He said that the mystery was the goose that laid golden eggs. “At a certain point, we were told we had to wrap that up and it never got going after that.” It seems now the time has come when the audience will finally get to know who killed Laura Palmer almost after 26 years.
Moreover, Sheryl Lee is returning as Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson in the forthcoming season. Perhaps, she is returning in the role as a spirit. There is also a possibility that she will feature in flashbacks. However, nothing can be said to be true as of now.
“Twin Peaks” season 3 will be launched on May 21 at 9PM ET on Showtime in the US. The show will be streamed on Stan at the same time, which is at 1PM on May 22. The season will include 18 one-hour-long episodes.
