‘Twin Peaks’ season 3: The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer audio book out on May 2

Ahead of the release of “Twin Peaks” season 3, the makers of the show are also planning to release “The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer” audio book. The book will be released on May 2. However, pre-order placements have already begun.

The audio book has been recorded in the voice of Sheryl Lee. It is based on the “Twin Peaks” novel of the same name that was released in 1990. The audio book comprises of an approximately seven-hour (6 hours 57 minutes) audio version of the same.

The audio book will narrate the story of Laura Palmer’s life from the age of 12 years until 17 when she died. Laura’s journey from a happy and naive teen to a tormented soul will be narrated in the voice of Sheryl Lee, who portrayed the character in the series. It will reveal as to how she falls into the world of drug addiction and prostitution.

It has a lot of secrets relating to her murder in “Twin Peaks” as well as several character references. Details about Bob (Frank Silva), the apparent mystery killer who terrorises her will also be there in the book reportedly.

The book has been penned by co-creator David Lynch’s daughter Jennifer, reportedly the original choice to play Laura. The narration in the original published book started as “Dear Diary, July 22, 1984. My name is Laura Palmer, and as of just three short minutes ago, I officially turned twelve years old! It is July 22, 1984, and I have had such a good day.”

The diary was a birthday gift to Laura – which she received on her 12th birthday. “You were the last gift I opened and I could hardly wait to come upstairs and start to tell you all about myself and my family. You shall be the one I confide in the most,” it continues.

Since then, she has been writing about her feelings in that diary. “I promise to tell you everything that happens, everything I feel, everything I desire. And, every single thing I think. There are some things I can’t tell anyone. I promise to tell these things to you.”

The show narrates the story of Laura Palmer after her death. Her secret diary has a lot of clues that helps Special FBI Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Sheriff Harry (Michael Ontkean) investigate the case. However, two pages from the diary are missing. Perhaps, these two pages contain important information about the killer. The audio book as well as the written book does not have these two pages.

“Twin Peaks” season 3 will premiere in the US on May 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Showtime. In Australia, the show will be streamed on Stan at 1:00 p.m. on May 22.
