Bradley Wiggins may have lost his cool over doping allegations at a press conference, but he did not lose his supporters after letting out some nasty expletives.

Wiggins, who recently emerged as the new leader in the ongoing Tour de France competition, first spoke of his current standing on the race.

"I'm not surprised by anything at the Tour... I expect anything, never underestimate anything, and never predict anything. It's difficult to say when you can ever relax," he said.

When a journalist asked him to sound off on social media comments linking his Sky team and Lance Armstrong's US Postal Service team, Wiggins lost his cool.

Armstrong is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the US Anti-Doping Agency.

"I say they're just fu***** wankers. I cannot be doing with people like that... It justifies their own bone-idleness because they can't ever imagine applying themselves to doing anything in their lives. It's easy for them to sit under a pseudonym on Twitter and write that sort of shit rather than get off their arses in their own lives and apply themselves and work hard at something and achieve something. And that's ultimately it," the race leader said.

The Guardian noted such an outburst was not typical for Wiggins, who earned applause from some of the journalists at the conference, as they felt the question was off-putting.

Bradley Wiggins soon became a trending topic on Twitter, with several users expressing their support for the Englishman.

Tour 2011 champ Cadel Evans took to Twitter to back Wiggins on his comments.

"Bradley Wiggins has a few choice words for those who doubt racing can be clean," Evans shouted out, with a link to the comments.

Retired Australian star Robbie McEwen and fellow sprinter Mark Cavendish were also behind Wiggins. American Christian Vande Veld ealso offered support, theage.com.au reported.

Apparently, there are as many people tired of doping allegations against Tour racers as those trying to make noise on such accusations.
