Instagram is getting better with its new update for both iOS and Android. The popular photo sharing app has been known for its many filters and functionalities with photo editing.

One of its new feature is the Willow filter. This new filter which comes along with the update is best used for portraits, still life, and architecture photographs with contrast. The Willow filter is a monochrome filter with subtle purple tones and a translucent glowing white border.

The Instagram update for iOS and Android includes:

  • Major improvements for the camera section
  • Optional grid guide for live photos
  • Permanent grid for scaling and crop screen
  • Preview of the most recent photo
  • New Lux feature
  • New Sierra filter
  • Simplified and Improve UI
  • Tappable Notifications

The latest version of Instragram is available for download in App Store and Google Play.

Twitter released an update which improved its photo support for Android devices and includes basic tools for editing and comes with 8 filter effects. The app can crop any image and has an auto-enhance button.

Filters like Vignette, Black & White, Warm, Cool, Vintage, Cinematic, and Happy are included. The interface has 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen and allows preview of photos in a grid format.

The release of the new features of the Twitter app was timed with the recent Facebook removal of support for Instagram images to be shown in Twitter via Twitter cards.

While the developers of the two apps are busy with filters and imagery, Google Play updated the in-app billing API which controls user on purchasing something within the app.

The update is in version 3 which brings new design for easier app writing and maintenance and local caching for faster API calls.

Google Play In-app Billing version 3 notes:

  • Requires Google Play client version 3.9.16 or higher
  • New API details of in-app items: price, type, title, and description
  • Purchase flow is synchronized and purchase is available immediately
  • Subcriptions are not yet supported in this version of the API.
