Rob Lowe has not taken a long time to decide on his next role on television, after quitting "Parks and Recreation." Lowe's character Chris Traeger is all set to make his exit from the NBC comedy after the 13th episode of the sixth season. Now the actor has signed on to star in the new NBC's one-camera workplace comedy.

Deadline.com reports that NBC has given the go ahead to "The Pro." Lowe joins the team of "The Pro" as executive producer, as well. Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory will be writing the script, while it is expected that Todd Holland will direct the comedy.

Earlier in July, Mike Schur, executive producer of "Parks and Recreation" had confirmed via a statement that Lowe is leaving the comedy series. "Rob we initially thought we could only have for six or eight episodes, and we couldn't be happier that he will have stuck around for 75," he said in the statement.

Lowe bagged the deal for "The Pro" after quitting "Parks and Recreation." Deadline.com says that Lowe's character in "The Pro" will be that of a former tennis double champion called "Big Ben" Bertrahm.

The character has lost a considerable amount of money in bad investments and his professional tennis playing career has fizzled out, as well. Deep in the ditch, he finds himself working as pro at a tennis and golf club.

According to Deadline.com, Lowe's character tries to "hustle and charm his way back into America's 1 per cent."

Lowe, 49, is also starring in the new T.V. movie "Killing Kennedy." It is due to air on November 10, 2013 on National Geographic Channel. Lowe is playing the role of President John F. Kennedy.

"Killing Kennedy" is based on a book by the same name, written by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard.
