Tyler Hoechlin: 'Teen Wolf' Actor Says Goodbye To Character Derek's Signature Stubble Look At 2014 Howler Con
"Teen Wolf" actor Tyler Hoechlin recently attended the 2014 Howler Con where he showed off a new look. The 27-year-old star of the supernatural MTV series said goodbye to his character Derek Hale's signature stubble look for a very thick mustache.
According to MTV News, it is still unknown if Tyler Hoechlin's new look is for a role in an upcoming project or the actor just wanted the different look. "Teen Wolf" is currently on a lengthy break with an expected return in 2015 with season 5. Back in September, executive producer Russell Mulcahy talked about the shocking twists that happened in "Teen Wolf" Season 4 that could affect the storyline in season 5.
One of the twists involves the evolution of Tyler Hoechlin's werewolf character, Derek Hale. "I think it's what you want it to be. In the mythology, there are various interpretations, but he's evolved to a different level. It's a rite of passage, a natural evolvement in the mystery of the werewolf syndrome. It all comes from the mind of [creator] Jeff Davis; he's brilliant, and he keeps me on my toes," Mulcahy shared in a TVLine interview.
Meanwhile, speculations on Derek's fate in the MTV series started to surface after "Teen Wolf" cast member Holland Roden teased that someone is not returning to Beacon Hills. "You're going to have to tune in for season five to see if we're all coming back or not. That's just the reality," Roden exclusively told Hollywood Life during a backstage interview at the New York Fashion Week.
The entertainment Web site pointed out that Derek Hale and Chris Argent (JR Bourne) could be the "Teen Wolf" characters not returning to Beacon Hills because the two did not leave Mexico with Scott (Tyler Posey) and the rest of the pack in the finale episode of season 4. Holland Roden, who portrays banshee Lydia Martin in the MTV series, further hinted that it is going to be sort of a toss up as to who will not return for "Teen Wolf" Season 5.
"Teen Wolf" is expected to return with a set 20-episode season 5 in 2015.
