After a total of four days without contact with his wife and kids due to the super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Aussie dad Damon Bruun received the best news of his life: his family has survived and are alive!

Mr Bruun said that it was on Friday when he last talked to his wife and recently told News.com.au that he is set to receive his emergency passport to rush to the Philippines and search for his loved ones. His wife Maria together with two of his sons, Hayden and Carter and daughter Keesha were all in Palo, Leyte which was reported to have been the hardest hit islands.

The concerned Australia father took some time off from Brisbane Markets, where he works, to fly fast to the Philippines and save his family. According to his mum, Mr Bruun's last conversation was with his little boy who was telling him then how scared he was of the wind. And then all communications were cut off.

As he was en route from Australia to the Philippines, he got a call from the News Corp saying that his family survived the super typhoon Haiyan, Geelongadvertiser reports. His wife, Maria, was as happy as him when she learned that her husband is coming over to Manila.

At the moment, Mr Bruun may still have a lot of problems reaching Palo where his family is stuck since flights are still in minimum numbers. Palo is 11 km far from Tacloban City and damaged roads are still being repaired. Maria said that their home still stood strong after the storm but they are running out of food to eat.
