With a scoreline of 6-1, Real Madrid defeated Galatasaray in a very convincing fashion.

The first few minutes of the game was tightly contested until Spanish rising-star, Isco, found the back of the net at the 33rd minute mark, courtesy of an Angel Di Maria assist from midfield.

Di Maria was a key player to winning the match. He yet again supplied Karim Benzema the ball on minute 54, for the second goal of the game which led to Gala's demoralisation.

Madrid capitalised by dominating possession in the next 12 minutes, coupled with a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo completed his hat-trick at extra-time, after he went around three Galatasaray defenders.

Benzema was able to come up with a brace for the Los Blancos at the 80th minute.

Real boss Carlo Ancelloti was delighted with how things went for his team. The win may further contribute to the fitness of the psyche of Madrid.

"When Ronaldo and Benzema have good nights it makes things easier. The result is great for us, good for boosting confidence, personality and character," Ancelloti told uefa.com.

Umut Bulut netted a consolation goal for Galatasaray at the 83rd minute.

Meanwhile, Yellow-Reds manager Fatih Terim was a bit disappointed with the result, knowing that they had their fair share of chances early on in the game.

"There's not much to say, but we lost the game in a terrible way. Madrid didn't have a chance in the first half, whereas we had three or four," said Terim.

Real Madrid will host FC Copenhagen at the Santiago Bernabeu on Oct 2, while Galatasaray will visit Italian giants Juventus at the Juventus Stadium.
