The Irish fighter was so impressive in UFC 178 that President Dana White has big plans for him.

White revealed during an interview with UFC.com that McGregor is next in line to challenge whoever comes out on top of the Oct. 25 bout between reigning champion Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. He also confirmed the attendance of his prized fighter during the event which will generate a lot of buzz on the potential fight.

"Here's the thing: If you go down the list, every one of those guys has fought Jose Aldo already," White said. "Conor hasn't. So who do you line up next for the champ other than Conor? Everybody else has fought him."

However, McGregor is showing his eagerness to cash on his rising stock as he announced via social media site Twitter his plans to move up to lightweight and challenge Diego Sanchez in his own turf in Mexico. White quickly shot down the announcement and attributed the Irishman's actions on his aggressiveness to get back in the action.

I am fighting @DiegoSanchezUFC in Mexico, November 15th. He spoke a big game. Now he will pay with his career. VIVA LA EIRE!!!

This comes after he just won via controversial win over Dustin Poirier when he hit his opponent in the ear that led to the decision of the referee to stop the match.

Apparently, even with the trash talk and the questionable win, White remains impressed. The UFC head also said that he and Lorenzo Fertitta went out to dinner to discuss the plans with McGregor and the latter said that he is really determined to be put next to Sanchez at 155 pounds. This is basically a jump to a higher catch weight yet White said that both sides have been talking and are eager to make the fight happen.

White is hopping that his announcement that McGregor is the challenger in waiting to the Aldo-Mendes fight will change the heart of McGregor and brings his legion of followers one step closer to bagging a title in the Octagon.
