Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Jon Jones handily vanquished Daniel Cormier in their lone meeting last Jan. 3. Both men have been rivals in and out of the Octagon their whole careers and the outcome of that encounter did not change the relationship between them, so says Cormier.

The former Olympic wrestler tangled with Jones in the infamous press conference brawl that broke out after the two bumped heads while doing the routine face-off. From there on, the actual brawl has escalated to trash talking leading up to the fight. Unfortunately, Cormier was handily beat and went down in a decision that even led him to become emotional during the post-fight press conference. Despite this, the 36-year-old Lafayette, Louisiana native maintains that if their paths cross again wherever that may be, it could turn ugly once more.

"I don't really have any desire to talk to him or try and end things or anything. I don't really want to be around him because I don't know what's going to happen, honestly," Cormier told BJ Penn.com in his latest interview. "I can't say that I would not lose my [expletive] if we were around each other."

Both Jones and Cormier are hoping to vanquish their separate opponents. The controversial Jones, who recently tested positive for cocaine metabolites a month before his bout with Cormier, is set to defend his title once more against the number 1 contender in the division, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson while Cormier is hoping to bounce back from the loss with his upcoming fight with Ryan Bader in his hometown this coming June.

There have been no indications from UFC President Dana White that he will be willing to setup a rematch between Cormier and Jones if both men emerge triumphant in their respective matches. In fact, that possibility looks slim given that Jones has hinted at finally going up to heavy weight and finally arrange the super fight between him and Cain Velasquez. In any case, Cormier still asserts that the animosity for the champ is still alive and nothing has changed between them.
