UFC President Dana White Says He is Very Excited for Anderson Silva’s Comeback in January

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White anticipates that Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz will deliver an action-packed showdown at UFC 183 in January. Will the fight between two returning UFC stars really be able to live up to the hysteria?

Speaking to the media during the UFC Fight Night Bangor weigh-ins where White was awarded the Honorary Citizen for Life by Bangor mayor Benjamin Sprague, he expressed his excitement for the upcoming Silva vs. Diaz bout at UFC 183.

"I'm pretty pumped for the fight," White told the reporters.

The 45-year-old American businessman and entrepreneur said that he could not wait for Silva to come back and fight in the octagon ring. He added that Silva is one of his favourite UFC fighters. As for his thoughts on Silva's opponent, White said that they gave Diaz the fight that he wanted.

White also countered and responded to a statement made by Diaz, who has signed a three-fight contract with UFC in July, saying that he never loved fighting. According to Diaz, he disliked fighting because he is a "non-violent person." Diaz said he "hated" watching people get hurt. White couldn't agree more with Diaz's statement and voiced that a man's got to do what a man's got to do.

"A lot of people don't like going to work but you gotta do what you gotta do," White said.

"That's how he makes a living, and not everybody loves what they do."

Silva had the longest winning streak with UFC before shattering with two consecutive losses to Chris Weidman. Silva is currently at 33 wins and 6 losses. Diaz, on the other hand, announced his retirement after suffering back-to-back losses to Carlos Condit and Georges St-Pierre. Diaz's record is 26 wins, 9 losses, and 1 no-contest.

The bout between Silva and Diaz at UFC 183 is a non-title contest so there wouldn't be any championship belt on the line on Jan. 31. Even so, Silva and Diaz will have to prove themselves and take advantage of the opportunity to attest their worth. Diaz has not fought since March 2013 and Silva will be coming off from a 13-month long break following his gruesome knee injury in December.
