UFC’s Ronda Rousey to possibly star in Fast and Furious 7
UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is reportedly close to landing a role in the upcoming installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.
The 26-year-old Olympic judoka is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak in MMA, with her last victory coming against the very dangerous Liz Carmouche in a fight to determine the first-ever title holder for the UFC's women division. In as much as her fighting prowess is admired inside the cage, her star quality and appeal are being admired outside of the fighting arena.
According to variety.com, Rousey has started negotiations to join the film's casts, and if the fighter manages to close a deal, she should be moving her training camp to Atlanta where the film is set to shoot.
Fast and Furious 7 stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. It will be produced by Neal H. Moritz and directed by James Won. If Rousey can land a role in the film, it will mark her second role in a major movie franchise. It has also been reported that the female mixed martial artist is appearing in The Expendables 3, which will be shown in cinemas August 2014.
Aside from testing the waters in film, Rousey has also been featured in ESPN The Magazine's 2012 Body Issue and will be appearing in the September cover issue of Maxim.
Although we should be happy with how her career progresses outside of fighting, let's hope that she would not lose her focus on training, especially for her upcoming opponent Miesha Tate, who is someone whom she cannot take easily.
