UFO sightings are being linked to the eruption of Mexico's Popocatépetl Volcano aka Popo on Monday. Paranormal speculators are linking the alleged UFO activity to the eruption, saying it could not have been a coincidence. However, the UFO itself remains a debated topic even as a video clip of the sighting has gone viral.

In a video uploaded to YouTube, a curious flying craft is seen flying above Popocatépetl, which was supposedly a no-fly zone. Not only that, the craft appears to have deliberately plummeted into the crater. The video has been described to be legit, but things may have not developed as other UFO watchers suspect. The flying object may have just been flying off towards the horizon, creating a perspective illusion that it dove into the crater, others say. The UFO sighting was broadcasted on Mexican TV. Talks of the UFO and Popocatépetl resurfaced strongly after Popo erupted two weeks later. "Is that really a UFO? And if so, why would aliens zoom into a fiery pit like that?" MSN asks in its report.

"I am leaning toward the object being a captured commercial jet passing through the field of view," UFO image analyst Marc Dantonio told Huffington Post, after saying "this is a genuine image capture."

"The eruption was actually fairly typical for Popo," Erik Klemetti, volcanologist at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, told Yahoo News. The explosion lasted for around 30 minutes, causing smoke to billow up to 2 miles into the sky. The powerful blast was reportedly felt 25 miles away. (Popocatépetl is around 40 miles away from Mexico City.)
