UFO Sightings in Canada: New Report Compiles a Quarter Century of Sightings
The mystery about unidentified flying objects (UFO) sightings in Canadian cities got a new breakthrough with the Ufology Research in Winnipeg making the first-of-its-kind report.
The report has put together all the reported UFO sightings across Canada over the last 25 years. The report documents 14,617 celestial oddities spotted since it started collecting data in 1989.
Rational Study
The research co-ordinator of the project, Chris Rutkowski, said the group does not provide any proof about the existence of extraterrestrials. But the report contains explanations or probable explanations for about half of the sightings.
According to Rutkowski, the phenomenon is real and raises many questions. People are reporting it. He wanted science to take a better look at it because the data suggests the phenomenon is set to stay.
The report has recorded a growing number of unexplained sightings over the years in British Columbia and Ontario.
UFO Cities
The report identified some hot spot cities with sightings listed at Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Calgary. The majority of sightings were in the form of lights in the sky, spotted between 10 pm. and midnight in the months of July and August.
The highest number of sightings was in Calgary (431) in 25 years, and the city comes behind Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver. There were 324 sightings over Edmonton during the same period.
Close Encounters
There were also encounters, including alien sightings and abductions. Among the most remarkable case reported was that of a Winnipeg nurse. She claimed to have spotted two small human-like creatures when she got home on Nov 1, 1992. The study describes how she found herself in a "hangar" with several spacecraft taking her for a brief trip around the Earth. She found herself back home with several hours of time missing.
On Nov 20, 1989, some people in a farm outside Montreal saw a bright light and heard a loud noise. They found out a large circle of flattened green grass on the field, where it continued to glow in green for long.
Flying Saucer
One interesting tale was that of a Montreal woman, who in 1977, saw a flying saucer landing on her roof, along with two spindly creatures in tight-fitting suits. Thereafter, the creatures and ship disappeared.
The report also mentions about a teenager in Duncan, B.C., in 1980. He was so obsessed with UFOs that he built a huge model of a UFO on his backyard.
The mystery was, following a series of UFO reports in his area, the boy announced that he was going to be taken away by aliens. Thereafter, he was never seen again!
